For example, the texture path of dirt would be block/dirt, rather than just dirt. If you don't want to manually change all of them, move the item/block's texture to the straight-up textures folder.

I haven't tried this but I suspect it will get weird looking through the glass at the solid half as there's no solid texture between the halves. 2.
