WebJun 27, 2012 · ProFvnv. Seems like an easy fix would be to put it back on the way you want it and then drill a small hole through the shift lever and the shaft. Then put a bolt through the hole and tighten a nut on the other end. That will keep it from moving anywhere. Use a chromed bolt and nut if you're concerned about looks. WebJul 13, 2014 · 23,123 Posts. #10 · Jun 28, 2014. If you clean shaft spline and then slip the new lever on, it needs to be snug. If it's loose, it's going to fail over time. As said in a previous reply, you can close the the hole in the lever a little to snug it up. Then once it's a snug fit, tighten it down with a g8 bolt.

Oil in that area could point to the main shaft oil seal and yes the oil would run down between the inner primary and the pulley there would also be a wee puddle of oil on the lower part of the front pulley but that would be gearbox oil. it is possible the oil could be coming from the bolt holes where the inner primary bolts to the gearbox.
